Original License plate.....

Post by SinjinLe »

Just checking to see if anyone have the original plate on their bike. I bought a California 1963 plate with a 64 sticker on Ebay. My intent is to put it on my 1964 Honda CA95. I took it to the DMV to see if I could use it. I think the plate went through about 10 workers and none of them have any idea. After 45 minutes later, the lady told me they will have to make a copy of it and send it in to check..blah blah blah. that was a month ago. Yesterday, got a letter from the DMV. They accepted the plate! yeah! cant wait to get it on the road!

Here is a link to the CA DMV form for reassignment of year of manufacture licence plates for vintage vehicles.

http://dmv.ca.gov/forms/reg/reg352.htm

It says it is for plates issued prior to 1963 but I suspect it might work for 1963 plates. I suppose I will find out for myself soon enough. One of the things I needed for my bike was a tail light since the one on my bike is off a similar vintage Suzuki. I found a tailight with bracket and licence plate for a decent price and I plan on putting the plate on my bike.

I have the original black Ca plates on both my CT90's and the PO told my he had to fight to keep them when he transfered title into his name. I had no such issues when transfering title to my name.
