The reasons previously given are real possibilities but it might be the same problem I used to have

I found the original indicators very fussy about lamp wattage. Quite often they wouldn't flash without the engine running but would flash if it was running fast enough to charge the battery. The rear ...

The UK C95 uses ngk D8HA.

NGK used a strange lettering system for the plug sizes

A is 18mm
B 14mm
C 10mm
D 12mm

Not sure how the worked that out.

The D8HA always come out a nice old fashioned mid brown colour. In a way that plugs don't on modern engines.

I think it just needs to sit in the slot to stop the disk rotating. When you screw it to the tank the star washer sits against the tank to provide the sealing pressure. You need to make sure it doesn't come out of the slot as you tightening the screws. Just snug up the screws and check the lever ...

Ignition Timing problem

I have finally identified the cause of my timing problems with my 64 C95. I thought I would share in case anyone else has similar problems.

I would set the points then set the timing statically. I would then check with a timing light and find that at idle the timing was about half way to full ...

I had this problem. They are m5 x 0.9mm thread. This was the Japanese industry standard up to about 1968 when they changed to m5 x 0.8 which Honda wrongly list as a replacement. There is a UK thread called 1 BA which I ended up using. The are used in Amal twist grips used on most Brit Bikes. I have ...

I use a short section of handle bar tube with a slot cut away down one side to put between a car sized compressor and the valve collar. After ages fiddling with magnetic screwdrivers I gave up and used aluminium tweezers to place the collets.

I have used zip ties as ring compressors but last time I put the pistons in the barrels (jugs if you must) from the bottom and pulled the gudgeon pins in using a length oft stud.

You should be able to replace the wires from the stator to the connectors in the frame without having to buy a new stator as they are only soldered onto the stator. You will need a decent 30watt ish iron some heat shrink. Seeing the work you've done so far I doubt you will find it difficult.

Thanks for the interest.
This is a spare set of rings, genuine honda the top and middle are the same but the oil control is a bit different. You will see that the shiny one is bevelled top and bottom and the middle rectangular and parkerised. The oil ring is shiny on the ring face where the set I ...

Thanks

I put new rings in a few years ago and put the chamfered ring in the top. The next day I found the manual online and swapped the top and second like the manual in the diagram. After what he rebore guy said I have checked lots of other engine manuals and sure enough if they have a chrome ...

Piston rings is he Honda manual wrong?

Just had my engine rebored and was checking the manual. Which contradicts itself. It says the second ring has a chamfer and the top doesn't. It also says the top Is chrome and the second and oil control ring are parkerised (black).

So here's the problem the chrome one is chamfered and the ...

Interested to see how you have done the front mudguard. I have most of a spare C95 . Not enough to build an original bike but I fancy doing something a little different with it. I like the idea of flat bars and a chrome mudguard. How did your ride go. I've got a bmw r1200s but still love riding the ...
