In the 60's chrome plating was dirt cheap. You could have almost anything chromed for low dollars. Example:

My 68 Harley Rapido, Tail light, chain guard, rear sprocket and assorted parts. $10.00

I got goofy and had the headlight gold plated and clear coated with lacquer...$10.00

Those days are gone. Great price on the bike though.

I need a time machine.
Can't afford to get anything chromed right now so I tried some chrome spray paint yesterday. SUCKS!

Oh man what a deal. CRAP I wish I had money laying around for that. I would use it for running errands everyday around town. Sweet and it's a runner too.

I am going to share a secret. I do some of my own plating, but not chrome, but stainless steel plating. Once polished, looks nice. I do small parts and can do touch up plating, called "brush plating"

Go to caswell .com They supply the kits for home plating. My little plating kit costs...ready?....$30.00 + shipping. I can dip plate stainless as well. The science of electroplating is easy. The small kit and a little reading about cleaning metal and anyone can do it.

Honda every so often would offer a chrome special model. I have seen a Z-50 Chrome and read about others. Here is a rare factory for $1100. WOW, sure would be sweet.
