different swingarms on the CA95s.
I only just noticed when looking at the pictures in this thread.

I looked at other pictures that members have posted of their bikes and sure enough there are 2.;)

Yes, I noticed the two swing arms when I rebuilt my last CA95. I can only guess and by golly that the "pointed end" swing arm may be from the mid 65 to 1966 CA95 models. I have had both in my shop and they are identical in every way but the "pointed end" vs the "blunt round end".

Another old engineering mystery. I have seen nothing in writing of documents regarding why the change.

To add to the mystery, the swing arm on my 68 CA160 has the "pointed end".

Do all the 160s have them Chip? could be that some people have made the swap themselves or it's just another case of the Honda parts bin build.

I must admit that the CA160 that I am working on is the only CA160 that I have seen, so I cannot say that all have the pointed swing arm. I have seen these swing arms on eBay identified as CA95 and CA160. I would think that people could swap them out between the two models. One would guess that the factory made a change in later production years of the CA95 and kept the same part throughout the CA160 build ending the 1969 model year. I cannot see an advantage to having one or the other on these bikes.

Hi Chip, I looked on Google images and all the 160s have that particular swingarm, I guess when the 160 came out, It was just as easy to use the same arm on both, so if you have that arm on a 150, chances are it's a very late one.

The beauty of these bikes are the interchangeable parts. Except the engine. The CA95 & CA160 engines are completely different. Although I have read rumor that you can mount a CB160 dual carb head on the CA160 engine base and have a Dream with some power.

If I keep the CA160 I may look into that mod next winter.

Electric Dream...That's a cool idea. Lead acid batteries are a bit heavy though. I would love to do an electric bike

Several top ends will fit on the CA160 bottom end Chip but not the CB160.
It will fit on the motor and it will work but it won't fit in the frame.
You can take the 160 up to 200cc using a CB200 block and pistons and a CD175 head with the single carb. You can also convert it to 5 speed with the CB175 gearbox.

Thanks Sam. Great mods to know. Someday when things are better, I would love to modify a frame to fit a CA160 with a CB head. With AutoCad, machining and a good fab shop all things are possible!. Check the example below. A Harley V Twin in a Cushman Scooter frame....wild.

I am still looking at your pics of your race bikes. Before I get too old I would really like to do a Dream frame base race bike.
