engine parts
I just talked to the people at Western Hills honda about top end engine parts. They quoted me over 400 for the basic top end rebuild parts for my 62 ca95. This included 2nd over pistons, rings, exhaust valves and the gasket set. Is this a good price or are there better prices available eleswhere. In their defense these parts are all oem honda parts. Thanks Curt

Yeah that's pretty crazy pricing right there. I wouldn't expect to pay more than $200 for all that stuff.

I have been given the names of western hills, and College bike Shop in Lansing, Mi,as sources for vintage parts. Both are listing prices about the same. Is there another source other than eBay for engine parts for this bike?

Try Service Honda in Hammond, IN or Ohio Cycle

Ohio Cycle
I have used Ohio Cycle. They have a lot of parts but make sure that you know the part # you need for your year and model. The list is quite extensive and is listed by part number.

For the sake of convenience and trouble $400 or so really is par for the course. It costs me $120.00 + shipping to bore cylinders Pistons & Rings can run $100.00. Then adding valves and gaskets you can eat up $50.00 on up. Searching high and low for parts(and paying shipping) and hoping you have sourced the right parts then getting into a sloppy old motor (labor & solvents & dirt)
So $400 and change and the engine is ready to go is not really that bad of a price. |

That price of 400 was parts only.I am going to have to pay extra for boring the cylinders, grinding the valves and lapping the head mating surface. In addition the cost of the teardown, parts cleaning and reassembly. With those parts costs, a top end overhaul is going to be around 1000. Curt
