Default Running, but has the hiccups

Hey everyone, SO my Benly starts right up and sounds great! My shifter rod was bent, so I bought a new one, but my clutch is still a little hard to pull. The inside of the engine is great and the clutch plates are perfect, so I'm guessing it may just need a new cable? Maybe I missed something?

Also, When I put the motorcycle into gear and pull back the throttle, the engine dies. If I put it into gear, not touch the throttle, but walk with it, it will pull a little. If I put it into gear and play with the throttle, it jumps all over the place, Second gear seems to work a little better, but I am still not getting much faster than 5 mph. I'm guessing it could be timing, or valve adjustments, bu these are all just guesses. I have yet to check the timing, which I will do today, but I just wanted to get other opinions too. Thanks!

Try a small "experiment" first. The lobe that the points ride on can be installed 180 degrees off. Turn said lobe 180 degrees from where you find it now and see what happens.
