Tires-Honda CA95

I want to start a thread on tires. There seems to be this ongoing mystery about where to get nice whitewall and blackwall tires for the CA95 (and the CA160)

Here is what I know.
Vintagetire.com Nice 3.25 x 16 whitewall tires, Firestone universal front/rear. $117.00 + Shipping

Americanmotire.com Nice 3.25 x 16 blackwall tires, universal front and rear, part #P202 < $40.00 + shipping

There are conversion threads on the net, but basically the scoop is:

80/90 x 16 =3.00 x 16
90/90 x 16 =3.25 x 16
MJ-90 x 16 = 3.25 x 16

On my previous CA95 I actually ran 3.50 x 16 both front and back. The tires did not rub, but they were very close to the metal.

I write this thread because I made a huge error. I bought MT-90 x 16
Curses! T=4.50 - 4.75! They are Harley Tires!

So if you see a letter like "T" make sure it is a "J"!

i wanted white walls but couldn't hang with the price, so i bought these cheng shin knobbies (they called them trials tires) from bikebandit for less than $20 each as i recall. the 3.00x16's rub a little if i hit a big bump hard, but i'm really happy with them. cheap and look cool. i'll recycle this picture for a new purpose:

Thanks All. I have to look at the Kenda Cruiser S/T 100-90-16 for my CA160. I like that tread design.

Cool, so know I know that the 100/90-16 size fits. That opens up a few new doors.

The Kendas are decent looking tread. There are some K761's on ebay right now for like $53 shipped. One seller has a single for $32 shipped, but it's either a crappy picture or the tire is really dried out.

I just ordered this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=260599451847 for $16 shipped since my front has a split in the side with the tube bulging out. I figure for $16 I can't go wrong for a tire to do test runs on and decide later if I like it. The tread doesn't look too aggressive.

I have the Coker Firestone replicas on mine. Something like $140 or so each but I've been told you can buy blems for a good deal less.

I thought long and hard about tires for the CA160. Being that the same size fits the CA95 I made a decision.

Before I say which tires I finally purchased, I had to come to terms.

A.) Finding a matched set ie. front & rear is possible but on a part time about town bike do you really need a front style and a rear style tire?
B.) On my previous CA95 I bought two front tires. I did not have any problems on the few wet occasions I rode.
C. I looked at several Super Bikes and found that they basically had slicks with grooves for back tires. These bikes can hit 160 mph. I may hit 60mph.

So I purchased two front tires. Kenda K671 100/90H-16

Nice looking, ain't going far or fast and want a cool look.

I got the tires. Sorry, strike 2 for me. Now I am going to step down a knotch and search for the old 3.00 x 16 tire. The Kenda I spoke of was way too wide at the rim and I felt that it was too close for comfort under the fenders.

The Motorcycle Super Store is a great sourch for cycle items. They made returning the tires very easy and nearly pain free. Unlike eBay where the seller offers returns but fails to respond. (unlike me)

Well, unfortunately I didn't get what was pictured from my auction, but I may have made out a little better. Got what I have pictured - Cheng Shin 100/80-16, a lower profile tire by a little bit and better tread. Hey for $15 it's not worth sending back so I'm going to try it on my front and possibly buy another for the back. You want me to send it down your way to see if you like the size? I won't need it right away. Another user has 2 - $55 total shipped. No problem sending it your way for comparison if interested ....

The CA160/CA95 tire saga continues.
Picking the right tire without stressing the budget has been a challenge. I thought I knew my tires but I guess not! There has been some changes in motorcycle tire sizes and construction. I wish I knew more. I did price some nice Firestone Whitewalls at $262.00 a pair delivered. Classic tread & size.

My next gamble is pictured below. Some nice Pirelli's. I bought the rear first so I can see how it fits. If good then I can buy the matching front tire.

I have to put closure to my tire episode.
I found 3.50 x 16 Cheng Shin model C-155 tires fit. I bought two rear tires and mounted them myself. They fit close but do nut rub. These tires are built along classic lines. I got them at close out prices, new for $6.59ea. Basically $23.00 a pair off of ebay. I went back to buy a second set and they were gone.

Here is how they look on the bike. The bike will be finished within a few days.
