Default Hand accel cable

Sirs,
I've installed new cables, clutch, frt. brake and accel cable. So far frt. brake and clutch seem to be correct. The accel cable has the correct casing length, from the original (slide end gone) but when installed is short. In that the carb slide is half open from the get-go. Accounting for casing and 90 degree metal slide there is about three inches free play. The cable I purchased is marked C95, NOS aftermarket. anyone have a correct cable to measure? I don't mind buying off Ebay, but getting the wrong thing is frustrating, not to mention having the incorrect spare.
Thanks all,

I think I have a few original very used throttle cables. I will get back to with a measurement. I too have had to modify so called "OEM" cables.

My used original throttle cable (internal) measures:
35 3/4" case
38 6/32" cable, end to end
