Yeah I might try the refurb, I already had opened it up to replace a broken glass. Nothing to loose at least. There's a speedo on Ebay right now for $129 which is from the US (from Colorado) which is NOS. I had just bought a new cable so the outside is perfect so was hoping to get just the inside ...

Speedometer needed

My speedometer died, froze up and snapped a brand new cable. Can a speedo be repaired? Or does anyone have one they can sell? ANyone also have a speedo cable replacement wire?

Timing question

Using a timing light with the engine idling and looking thru the timing window should the stationary mark on the stator (?) line up with the red line "F". There is also a "T", what is that mark for?

Thanks,

Carb all good now with a new float not drop even with the pet cock left on. Bike seems to be running rich though. What are the steps to lean a carb short of a main jet which seem impossible to find?

Thanks for any relpies in advance.

Well it was a leaky float. I drilled a hole, drained the gas and resoldered it and were back to normal. I'll probably get a new one but it's working fine now so that was definitely the problem. It was real easy draining and resoldering, not shure how permanent it is but I'll try it for a while to ...

leaking carb

I have my 63 CA95 running pretty well but now I have a seriously leaking carb via the overflow tube. I checked everything I can think of. Mainly adjusting the float. I either have it cutting off all the gas or the thing is leaking like crazy. I finally, at the suggestion of my son, checked the float ...

Thanks Larzfromarz,

I switched out my old points and condenser for ones from the parts bike so now I have a much better spark to the plug so think that clears the coil as being weak or on it's way out, thankfully.

I did see the 2 unlabelled hash marks. So those are to indicate the advance at ...

FYI, If I have not already said so I am a newbie to engine work. Did basic stuff years ago on my VW Bettle so if my questions seem basic it's because I'm not experienced in working on engines.

I switched out the points and condenser with a set I had from a parts bike and now I have a good spark to ...

Electrical Problems

Still battling getting my CA95 running. Had it running for a couple days and now no spark. I checked the coil lead wires (black and green ones) and get a reading of 1.5 ohms. Is this OK and can I eliminate the coil as the problem? Is this the proper way to check it. A month or so ago I had left the ...

I had checked the fuse and it seemed fine but I went and checked it again and now we seem to be OK. Perhaps it is just a contact issue so I'll clean everything up on the fuse case. Hopefully that is the end of this problem. On to getting the baby running and operational. Lots left to do but the end ...

Possible coil problem

I accidentaly left my key on in my CA95 and now I can't get any spark or power to the lights. The battery has been recharged. Somewhere I read you can ruin a coil on these bikes if the key is left in the iginition and on.

I am so close to having this bike operable this is just killing me. Please ...

I did find a machinist that could resurface a brake drum but it would require unlacing the drum/hub from the rim. I think I'll try the emery cloth first and see how that cleans the surface up. What about new shoes? If the old ones have enough lining should they be OK or will age affect their ability ...

Resurface brake drums?

Is it possible to have the drums resurfaced on a CA95? Mine seem pretty pitted and certainly seem like resurfacing would help the braking and would be a good idea but don't know if this is possible. Anyone done this before? If so is it something that a good motorcycle shop should be able to do?

Clutch cables

I need to get a new clutch cable and want to be sure I get the correct one. My CA95 is a 1963 as best as I can determine. The engine numbers is
CA95E 3108409
VIN is CA953108272

There seems to be two version of the cable and the CMSNL web site seems to indicate my engine number would need the late ...
